The World According to Me

The World According to Me is a play on one of my favorite novels, "The World According to Garp," by one of my favorite authors, John Irving. While I am not nearly the writer Irving is, I hope that my musings will offer a unique perspective on life. If nothing else, I have something to look back on when dementia kicks in.

Maiden Voyage

I finally took the plunge. This is my initial foray into the blogging world. I was inspired partly by my sister Jennifer (is it appropriate to use real names on this thing?), and partly by one of my students, both of whom have extensive blogging experience. I have dabbled in journaltry (I just made up that word) at various points in my life, but nothing ever stuck. My hope is that this attempt will be more successful.

I tend to have fleeting moments of brilliance and this site might serve to recount such moments when dimentia has fully engulfed my brain.

GWHeathie - Welcome to the web. Well, the blogosphere anyway. Always love to be the inspiration. Especially when I bring feeling to one's life. :)

Anyway, there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to using real names. Since I never use anyone's real name, I never ask them if it is okay to do so. Jennifer is such a common name that it probably doesn't make a big difference, but I prefer to remain somewhat anonymous. All the online people refer to me as PepGiraffe, but that is mostly because they don't know my real name. And for consistancy's sake, The Rivster and I tend to use the same names for people so it doesn't get confusing. That is why I refer to our b-i-l as PC (Prince Charming). Otherwise, I would just call him Bill. I still haven't decided whether or not I am going to change Actor's name to RobSPetri, but that won't be a problem if he is only going to post once ever six weeks. Back to what you were asking, though. If you are going to use all real names, that's fine, but I won't link to you as my brother. Actually, as with the other sibs, I won't link to you until you have a good number of posts. I don't want to lead my readers (all ten of them now) to a boring blog. Plus, I like having secret code names. It makes me feel mysterious. Though I do admit that there is something about seeing my actual name up in lights.

I think that is all. I am happy you are online. Maybe we'll get a family ring after all.

And regarding your fleeing moments of brilliance? You spelled dementia wrong.
